Tradition, experience and innovation

The company was founded in 1954 as “Schweißwerk Wattenscheid” and was even then a provider of services to the steel industry.

In 1968, the company moved to Düsseldorf and from then on was called “Schweißtechnik Düsseldorf GmbH & Co. KG”.

In 1984, the company was purchased by Günther Paris, father of the current owner, then aged 61.

In 1987, all the founding directors left the company with the exception of Günther Paris.

In 1991, owner Günther Paris passed away and the business was taken over by his son Uwe.

Since the 1990s, the traditional repair and maintenance work has been continually advanced. New requirements in cutting, grinding and blasting have been met with success. The company is now increasing its service portfolio.

In 1997, STD took over the Freddy Kirchner graphite processing business and entered into the refurbishment of electrodes.

STD moved again in 1998, this time to Wetter in the Ruhr district. At the new location, it now had its own office space as well as in-house production and operating facilities.

Since 1998, STD has continued to expand with the establishment of other business and has enhanced its excellent reputation as a reliable service provider for the steel industry in Germany and across Europe.
